Squanch Games has pushed back the release of their comedy shooter sequel to give it more time in development. The game now arrives on February 13, 2026, and lands straight on Xbox Game Pass for subscribers.
What is High on Life 2?
The original High on Life hit screens in 2022 as a first-person shooter packed with humor and talking weapons. It quickly became a hit, topping Xbox Game Pass charts that year. Players took on alien cartels in a wild story full of jokes and action. Now, the sequel builds on that base with more chaos.
This follow-up keeps the core idea: team up with chatty alien guns to battle threats across space. But it adds layers, like a personal story twist and new ways to move around levels.
Release Date and Platforms
First shown at the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2025, the title was set for a winter drop. Developers shifted it to early 2026 to refine the experience. It rolls out on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC through Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store.
Xbox users get it day one via Game Pass, making it easy to jump in without extra cost. No word yet on other services or older consoles.
New Features and Gameplay
One big change is skateboarding, which takes over from basic running. It lets players grind rails, wall-ride, and flip over gaps while fighting foes. Previews call it a boost to platforming, turning levels into skate parks amid shootouts.
Returning tools include the grapple from Knifey, plus familiar guns like Gus and Sweezy. New additions, such as a bow or shotgun alien, expand the arsenal. Voice talent shines too, with Ralph Ineson as a fresh character named Sheath.
- Key Mechanics: Shooting with living weapons, stabbing close-up, skating for speed.
- Levels: Explore spots like a politics convention or human zoo.
- Humor Twist: Demos include odd moments, like a fake reboot into an old Bible Adventures game.
These elements mix action with laughs, based on early plays at events like Gamescom.
Story and Setting
The plot picks up after the first game. Your character, now a famous bounty hunter, faces trouble when someone targets their sister. This sparks a chase against a pharma company plotting against humans.
Worlds range from convention planets to luxury ships, all ripe for destruction. The ragtag crew of misfits returns, facing bigger stakes in a conspiracy tale.
Previews and Impressions
Hands-on sessions highlight the wild side. One demo starts with a skydive into a convention world, leading to chases and boss fights. Testers note sharp writing and fun dialog, though it’s still early.
Trailer and More
Fans can wishlist now on stores. Squanch Games aims to top the original’s charm with this entry.
As February nears, expect more updates. This sequel could pull in both old players and new ones looking for light-hearted space action.
